Elizabeth Harvest (2018)

Elizabeth Harvest (2018) directed by Sebastian Gutierrez • Reviews, film + cast • Letterboxd

I think Sebastian Gutierrez makes movies just to have Carla Gugino naked. I mean, I would too if I was dating Carla Gugino, which might have been the only reason I watched this film (other than I serious love Carla Gugino as an actress).

Elizabeth Harvest is a film about a scientist, who is trying to create the perfect replica of his previous wife, the love of his life. With each woman that goes wrong, the film starts over with the scientist coming home with his new wife.

It really is a hard movie to explain without giving spoilers and telling you everything. It is a complicated structure, but the film is shot beautifully. The director uses split screens, monochromatic tones, and extreme close-ups to tell his story that needs much explanation. He uses lots of flashbacks and lengthy monologues to give the viewer the much needed back story.

It’s not a feel good movie at all. On the contrary, it is the complete opposite. The lack of feeling throughout the movie really makes it hard to enjoy the film. While it was better than his other movies starring my lovely Carla Gugino, it still was not all that good.
