Venom' Review Roundup: Critics Say Tom Hardy's New Movie Is so Bad It Might Be Good - Business Insider

After Venom appeared in Spiderman 3, the idea of a spin-off was created and without the Spidyverse in its pocket. This film stars Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams (a great duo, in my opinion) in a origins story based on the comic book miniseries Venom: Lethal Protector and story arc “Planet of the Symbiotes”. Makes me want to go get these books.

Journalist Eddie Brock begins an investigation on Carlton Drake and the Life Foundation and find himself inhabited by one of the foreign alien genes. This is where we spend quite a while on Tom Hardy being crazy, wild, and invaded that half of the time you are laughing. The over the top antics from Tom Hardy are brilliant, especially when I am so used to him being the strong quiet type.

Once we get past that part of the film, that’s when the good stuff happens. It doesn’t take along for the story line to fall in place and we are left with good vs evil.

It’s a fun superhero film and looking forward to Venom 2 due to be released in 2020.
