Same characters, different origin. This Fantastic Four starts over with 5th grade friends Reed Richards and Ben Grimm working on a science project. Quickly, we move to high schoolers or just out of school and they are off to work at the Baxter Foundation because they were able to perfect the ability to transport matter from one location and back. What they didn’t know was where that location was located.
Being kids, they decide to transport themselves and that’s when everything goes tits up and they get their powers. I like Miles Teller in the lead role as Reed Richards. If you compare this new version to the original 2005 version, he is much better than Ioan Gruffudd. I seriously have an issue with actors playing such icon superhero roles. Chris Evans needed to stay with Fantastic Four as the Human Torch and had no right to become Captain America. It messes with the MCU world for me.
I really liked each of the actors for this 2015 version, but I felt the suspense and take down of Dr. Doom was a bit of a let down. I wanted more of everything. Maybe this is why it didn’t do well financially or with the fans. Marvel announced they were planning another reboot of Fantastic Four.
If it is another origins story, I’ll be bummed.
